I was able to speak to Kenny DeSota Ramoz, the writer and creator behind the Burden of Freedom project. Burden of Freedom is a not just a “movie” but it’s a movement, a movement to cover the extremely important issue of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD. When people talk about PTSD they often roll their eyes and think that it’s somehow not an issue or a real disorder, they somehow believe that the people suffering from this are lying or looking for some handout.
“22 A Day” is a common term being floated around the political sphere right now, but I don’t think that the general public understands exactly what that means. Every single day, 22 military veterans commit suicide because of their extreme struggles with PTSD, the lack of ongoing support and help from the government and the sheer lack of respect for what they gave up for their country.
So, in light of this “22 A Day” term, I will be holding 22 interviews with veterans, supporters of PTSD causes, organizations and groups who are there to help stem the tide of these amazing and selfless people from killing themselves.
