Supporting #Diversity in Film
Starting May 1st and running until May 8th, Film Fervor will be dedicating the program to supporting diversity in film and woman in film to promote equality in the workplace and break down the walls separating talented people from equal pay.
Filmmakers, directors, actors and every other job available on a film set are being done by women and those women are being paid less than the men in the same position. Not only is this morally wrong, it is constitutionally wrong.
Join me as we dive deep into the world of diversity in film and raise your fist with us. Together, we will be heard and together we will make a change.
A land of Opportunity? Not in Hollywood.
There is an enormous imbalance in racial and gender roles in film and television, both behind and in front of the camera. It seems like the movie industry is living in the 1930’s still, when it was alright to treat women and people of color like second class citizens (or worse) but in today’s society, our culture and the world we are building, why is this abhorrent behavior still tolerated by the major studios and producers?
The “Hollywood Beast” is a wounded animal on it’s way out, gone are the days when if you didn’t have your film made in California’s hot-spot, it didn’t really exist. Today we have video on demand, streaming media services and the wonderful resources of social media.
The independent film industry thrives on diversity and cultural engagement and it is in this fact that the community will show its true power, it’s united voice, and let these oligarchies of film know that we want, WE DEMAND diversity, equality and modernization of their archaic old ways.
